TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS**Please note - To ensure fairness and equal opportunity, the travel scholarship application process is the sole method through which we award scholarships for the Annual Meeting. Requests for travel scholarships or financial assistance submitted outside of this designated process will not be considered. Travel Scholarships are available for those whose intention is to attend the meeting in person. Each year the Histiocyte Society awards at least one scholarship in order to attend the Annual Meeting. 2024 Scholarships are provided in the following amounts (USD) per recipient: Global Histio Awards: up to $1,000 | Trainee Awards: up to $500. Please read through all terms and instructions prior to applying for a Travel Scholarship. For questions, contact the Secretariat at [email protected]. SCHOLARSHIP TYPES: Global Histio Award Global Histio Travel Scholarships are intended for investigators, typically from resource poor countries, (LMIC countries as defined by the World Bank) who demonstrate the need for financial assistance in order to attend and participate in the Annual Meeting. Trainee Award To encourage new trainees to attend the Annual Meeting and eventually join the Society, the Executive Board will award up to 3 travel scholarships each year to trainees. A trainee is defined as an MD or PhD student, a resident/fellow (in a specialty/ subspecialty medical training program) or a post-doctoral scientist (a PhD scientist within 5 years of obtaining their PhD and not currently in a faculty position). Early Career Investigator Award - Provided by the Histiocytosis Association The Histiocytosis Association, in support of the Histiocyte Society's Travel Scholarship program, recognizes the importance of participation and attendance at the Annual Meeting. In honor of long-time friend and supporter, Joseph Ingrassia, the Histiocytosis Association has provided additional travel scholarships. During his life, Joseph Ingrassia played an instrumental role in helping the Histiocytosis Association with its longest standing and largest fundraiser, and offered his support for advancing the mission of the Association. Upon his passing in 2021, he graciously donated to the Histiocytosis Association and in his honor, to celebrate his passion for education and dedication to advancing research closer to a cure, the Histiocytosis Association has developed a scholarship for clinicians and/or researchers who are early in their careers.
